- Eitz Chaim school was founded by a group of boys who were concerned about the education of the Jewish youth. Some of the founding members included: Itsheh Meyer, Sam Korolnek; and Samuel and Louis Cooper. Together, with a few other boys, they started a small gathering in the Bes Medrash Shul on Elm Street in 1914. The official founding date for the Talmud Torah Eitz Chaim School was in 1915, with the move to temporary quarters on Chestnut Street, and eventually moving to the newly rennovated building on D'Arcy Street in 1917.

- Accession consists of one videocassette documenting the dedication of Sefer Torah scrolls held by the Shidlover Shul on D'Arcy Street in Toronto. The scrolls were brought to the shul from 3181 Bathurst Street by Jake and Esther Miltz and Rose and Nathan Weisblatt. They were transported to D'Arcy and Spadina Avenue and marched into the shul from Spadina Avenue going east. The celebration was held at the Weisblatt's home. Footage was originally filmed by Dr. Aaron Weisblatt on super 8 mm.

However, lack of funds caused the wing to be put on hold until the 1970 completion program began. The addition of the cultural and educational wing of the northern branch included the Koffler Centre for the Arts, the Leah Posluns Theatre and improved physical education facilities.

- This file consists of images taken at the Northern Building Completion Program dedication ceremonies. The images include the ribbon cutting, on-stage sport, dance and gymnastics presentations, speeches and several shots of the completion campaign leadership and the guest of honour, Premier William Davis. The images also include contact sheets taken during the exhibitions and demonstrations in the Leah Posluns Theatre.

- Item is a copy print and corresponding negative of a banquet for the dedication of the new Torah scroll at the Congregation B'nai Israel in Timmins, Ontario.
