- Item is a book published by the Jewish World Relief Conference that relates the story of the victims of the pogroms.
- Administrative History
- The Jewish World Relief Conference (JWRC) was created in August 1920 at the Conference of Carlsbad. The latter was organized by the Committee of Jewish Delegations. One hundred representatives of sixty Jewish organizations, themselves representing twenty-eight countries, were assembled. The JWRC's aim was to centralize the relief work carried out by Jewish associations.
- The organization was represented by a central council, which consisted of thirty-seven members, who in turn elected twelve members to an executive committee. The latter directed the work of the JWRC. Its seat was in Paris.

- This accession consists primarily of materials created during an oral history project with seniors from the Hamilton Jewish community. This project was coordinated by Sylvia Klein initially through funding from a government Local Initiative Programme and then on a volunteer basis. Klein conducted this work under the guidance of Dr. Stephen Speisman, then Director of the Canadian Jewish Congress Central Region Archives. The records include oral histories on audio cassettes, transcripts, notes, reports, programmes, handbooks, and photographs.

In addition, there is one file containing lists related to the Ontario Jewish Archives entitled "opening lists"; however, one of the lists included in this file is from 1983. Photographs are primarily from the Moess Chittin Campaign Banquet for Torontonians vacationing in Miami Beach, Florida, 1961. In addition, there are photos of the Youth Council, Regional Conference in London, and a photo with Mildred Devor. Additional individuals identified in Moess Chittin fund related photos include Frank Rubinstein (Hamilton), Jack Goldberg (Belleville), Henry Weisman (North Bay), and Ben Swartz (Peterborough), each of whom is pictured shaking hands with Phil Givens. - The Jewish Community Centre of London was originally affiliated with the United Way; however, today they form a part of the United Jewish Appeal London Federation. Previously, the Centre offered programmes for the Jewish community of London including day camps, Hebrew schools, seniors groups, and other recreational events. Today, these programmes are still being offered, but have grown substantially to accommodate the increasing demand.

There are also bulletins from the Canadian Jewish Congress Youth Division Bulletins (1938, 1939) and several Yiddish journals including Bascheiden (1930), Heftn (1929), and two copies of In Gevirbl a monthly journal for literature and art (1930). Some of the topics and authors included in the 1938 Youth Division bulletin include: Editorial by Percy Kaplan, A Report on the Hamilton Conference of the Central Division of the Jewish Congress by Harry Steiner; The Youth Rally by Bertha Freed; The Youth Division of the United Jewish Welfare Fund by Boris Adelberg; Jewish Youth and Palestine by M. The photographs feature UJPO schools with children in classrooms.

- The Sarnia Jewish community worshiped at the old Davis Street Synagogue which was established in 1922. In 1950 ground was broken and the cornerstone laid for the Ahavas Isaac Synagogue and Community Centre. The new building opened in 1951.
- Alvin Fox was president of the congregation in the early 1980s and his wife Valerie was active in the Sisterhood.

- The farm was established as a refuge for a group of about 90 boys, most of whom were orphaned in Poland during the First World War. A Detroit businessman, Eli Greenblatt, raised the funds to bring them to Canada and Morris Saxe, a Georgetown farmer and creamery owner offered the use of his land.

- Accession consists of records related to the role of Dr. Joseph Diamond as the first Director of the Toronto Bureau of Jewish Education. Included are copies of a 1918 letter from the Intercollegiate Menorah Society of New York, minutes of the founding organizations of the Bureau of Jewish Education (United Jewish Welfare Fund, Canadian Jewish Congress Central Agency for Jewish Education, Provisional Executive, Board of Trustees and Board of Directors of the new Bureau (1948-1950)), and programs for the BJE's Inaugural Meeting (1950) and the Eighteenth Anniversary (1967). There are several reports and surveys and a 1964 newspaper article from the Yiddish Standard about the Bureau and it's director. Finally there are two articles published in Hebrew in Israel about Jewish education in North America and a case study of Toronto, as well as a reprint of a 1951 article (in Yiddish) by Nachman Shemen about Dr. Joseph Diamond and Sam Posluns.The photographs show Dr. Diamond addressing an Eitz Chaim Annual Banquet and a Regional Education Conference in Hamilton, Ontario.

- Accession consists of group photos of organizatons including delegates to the 1910 Zionist convention in Toronto on the steps of the Goel Tzedec Synagogue, volunteer collectors for the War Relief Conference in Toronto during the First World War, founders of the Toronto Hebrew Students Association, the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine holders of "T" for athletics, the University of Toronto Medical Alumni Association, the University of Toronto Zionist Circle, the University of Toronto Menorah Society, the Nordau Zion Club picnic at Long Branch, and the Associated Hebrew Charities Childrens Home (orphanage). Many of the photos have identification of individuals including David Eisen, Henry Dworkin, Morris Goldstick, A.G. Volpe, Jacob Singer and Fred Catzman.
- In addition there are a series of photographs of the University of Toronto St. George Campus, and buildings along Queen Street West, Nathan Phillips Square, New City Hall, Kensington Avenue and other downtown locations taken in 1965 and 1966. Some of the buildings have since been demolished.

- The records include 23 case files documenting orphans who survived the Holocaust. They were all inmates of the orphanage in Otwoc, Poland. The case files were likely sent to a Jewish organization in Toronto who found local sponsors to support the individual orphans. At the bottom of each case file includes the name of the Toronto sponsors, which ranged from individuals to labour unions and women's auxiliaries. The file also includes English translations for each file (since the information is all in Polish), along with thank you letters from the children to their sponsors written in Yiddish. Photographs of the children are attached to the case files.
- Custodial History
- The case files had been in the custody of Estelle Tambak, a Harlem, New York teacher and activist who had travelled to Poland to volunteer at the orphanage in the late 1940s. All translation work was done by Ann Szedlecki (1925-2005), a Holocaust survivor from Lodz who had herself been orphaned after the war. This custodial history has been confirmed by Miriam Borden, the granddaughter of Ann Szedlecki, who has a photograph depicting Ann and Estelle viewing the records within this file.
