Scope and Content
Item consists of a recording of Ben Kayfetz's segment. He criticizes Canada's effort to support the Palestine Liberation Organization as an observer mission at the United Nations and its opposition to a resolution proposing the restoration of Palestine territories occupied by Israel. He also briefly reports on the recent death of Shimon Weber, former editor of Forverts, a New York Yiddish newspaper, and his career. He also mentions the Hanukkah menorahs in front of government buildings in Toronto and expresses his concern that Hanukkah will become a generalized holiday like Christmas and lose its character. He finally talks about the demolition underway on the north side of College St., an entire block between Brunswick Ave. and Major St., which, according to him, was the heart of Toronto's Jewish community from the mid-1920s to the mid-1950s. He describes the buildings and institutions that existed in the area.

Notes
Item consists of a recording of Ben Kayfetz's segment. He starts the segment by mentioning what he considers to be four important anniversaries: the 70 years of the October Revolution, the 70 years of the Balfour Declaration, the 40 years since the vote in the United Nations authorizing the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, and the 49 years since the Kristallnacht in Germany. He then proceeds to discuss the October Revolution and what it has meant for Russian Jews, from what he describes as hope to disenchantment; and the Balfour Declaration, which expressed the British Empire's favourable position to the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine, but criticizes it for what he sees as its ambiguity.

Scope and Content
Item consists of a recording of Ben Kayfetz's segment. He comments on an article published on the Toronto Star about David [Crow] and his accomplishments. Kayfetz notes, however, that the man was not born in Moscow, where only few Jews were allowed to live in 1905, the year he was born, but rather in Mogilev, present-day Belarus. He also talks about the acquirement of all 85,000 record copies of the Metro Music collection by the National Yiddish Book Center. Metro Music was a New York publisher of Jewish music that went out of business in 1970, and its entire collection was acquired and put on sale by the National Yiddish Book Center.

Item consists of a recording of Ben Kayfetz's segment. He starts by remembering what he describes as the judicial murder by the Soviet authorities of twenty-three Jewish authors, on 12 August 1952, and expresses his strong condemnation of Stalin, the Soviet leader at the time. He talks about Robert Wistrich's book "Hitler's Apocalypse: Jews and the Nazi Legacy." According to him, based on converstations recorded by Hitler's close circle, he saw Stalin as his alterego and considered an alliance with him for what he perceived as Stalin's shared despise for the Jewish people. He then briefly discusses the 1952 trials and announces an event to be held the following Wednesday, 12 August 1987, at Beth Tzedec, to mourn that deaths. Finally, he briefly talks about Peter Ustinov's sojourn in Israel while working on a film and expresses his wishes that Ustinov abandon his support for the Palestine Liberation Organization.

Item consists of a recording of Ben Kayfetz's segment. He talks about an upcoming event being held on 14 December 1987, at 8 pm, at the Lipa Green Centre. The event was promoted by the Community Relations Committee of the Canadian Jewish Congress and consisted of a discussion on how to handle the reading and study of controversial texts in Jewish schools, works that are considered literary classics but reflect prejudices and misconceptions that prevailed in the time of their writing, such as "The Merchant of Venice," "Oliver Twist," and "Huckleberry Finn." Panelists were Enid Lee (Supervisor of Race and Ethnic Relations at the North York Board of Education), Barbara Aggerholm (a journalist of the Kitchener-Waterloo Record), and a parent from Waterloo [name unintelligible], where this had been a recurrent and divisive issue. He also briefly talks about the return of Max Rosenfeld to Toronto, after having made Aliyah thirty years prior in order to join the Foreign Service. Rosenfeld was to serve as the new director of the Toronto office of Boys Town Jerusalem. Finally, he discusses the libel award against B'nai B'rith in Winnipeg, which he considers disturbing.

He also discusses the case of Mahmoud Mohammad Issa Mohammad, who, according to him, had told Canadian immigration authorities in Spain that, although he was a member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, he did not hold a rank in it. Kayfetz questions the policy of the Canadian immigration office and whether not holding a rank is enough. Finally, he discusses a new development in the Ernst Zündel trial, wherein the judge had established that the reality of the Holocaust was not to be put into question. According to Kayfetz, the Crown then only needed to prove that Zündel deliberately disseminated false information about the Holocaust.
