- The White Paper of 1939, also known as the MacDonald White Paper, was issued by the British government in May 1939. According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, the paper "essentially yielded to Arab demands. It stated that the Jewish national home should be established within an independent Palestinian state. During the next five years 75,000 Jews would be allowed into the country; thereafter Jewish immigration would be subject to Arab 'acquiescence.' Land transfer to Jews would be allowed only in certain areas in Palestine, and an independent Palestinian state would be considered within 10 years." The article goes on to note, "The Zionists were shocked and enraged by the paper, which they considered a death blow to their program and to Jews who desperately sought refuge in Palestine from the growing persecution they were enduring in Europe."
- Scope and Content
- Item is a pamphlet issued by Combined Palestine Appeal, which was located at 651 Spadina Avenue in Toronto. It outlines the organization's reasons for rejecting the White Paper of 1939 and includes quotes from Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Jan Smuts. On the back of the pamphlet is information about the organization's official campaign, which was set to open on 22 May (1944?).

A staff person at the YM-YWHA was appointed to coordinate the fundraising and educational efforts of the campaign, in consultation with UJA staff. Each organization conducted its own campaign and programs to meet its desired targets. The groups were divided into divisions, which elected representatives to the Combined Youth Appeal cabinet. The cabinet acted as a liaison between the Combined Youth Appeal and the United Jewish Appeal.
- Scope and Content
- This file contains textual records relating to the Combined Youth Appeal campaign. This includes meeting minutes and reports, correspondence and promotional material. - The Eargun Yozei Ostrowceh in Palestine organization, also known as the Society for Former Ostrovtsers in the Land of Israel and the Ostrovtzer Aid Committee in Eretz Yisrael, was established as a landsmanshaft society to provide support for Holocaust survivors from Ostrowiec, Poland. Operating out of Tel Aviv, it became a vital support network for immigrants to Palestine.
- Founded by Ostrovtzers like David Topel, who served as one of the founding members and the first chairman, the organization had a primary focus on assisting newcomers. They provided support in the form of loans, assistance in finding suitable accommodation, and even rented out equipment for employment purposes. The organization coordinated with other Ostrovtzer Committees to provide aid to survivors in various countries, including Poland, France, and Italy.
- One of the ambitious projects undertaken by Eargun Yozei Ostrowceh was the development of an Ostrowiec neighborhood in Tel Aviv. This initiative aimed to create a community that would serve as a cultural and social hub for those with ties to Ostrowiec. Additionally, the organization worked towards the creation of a memory book, documenting the history of Ostrowiec.
- Scope and Content
- Sub-series consists of correspondence from Eargun Yozei Ostrowceh in Palestine to the United Ostrowtzer Hilfs Committee and the Central Aid Committee in America. The materials discuss immigrant arrivals, financial support distribution, committee activities, and internal matters including accusations against committee members.
